The foundation of the first chapel occurred following a miraculous event that happened to a certain Martino Pedroni, who was violently attacked near the sacred image hanging on the oak tree and miraculously survived, despite the severe injuries sustained. Further and subsequent miraculous events increased the devotion around the sacred image, leading to the construction of the first chapel. The sacred site dates back to the 17th century, following the reported miraculous event. The current church, built after the primitive chapel and consecrated on August 2, 1647, by the provost Nicolò Vanni, was strongly desired by the community of Spilamberto. In the annals of the oratory, the name of a certain Silvestro Piazza remains, who acted as the interpreter of this will.

The date indicated for the entry into force of the first parish is that related to the oldest document preserved in it. Since 1839, the administration of the oratory’s assets was delegated to the parish priest of Spilamberto by the people of Spilamberto. (It thus seems to be a case of two separate managements, the jurisdiction of the sanctuary had until then been entrusted to the parish priest, while that of the assets to a generic people of Spilamberto, then the two managements in 1839 concentrated on a single figure). On January 26, 1894, a long-standing affair concluded whereby the Royal Demesne, after almost a century (a first letter had been from the Demesne of Milan in 1806 and stated that all the assets of the oratories and churches were avocated to the Nation) took possession of the assets of the Oratory of the Blessed Virgin of Mount Carmel (laws 7.7.1866 and 11.8.1870) and for the proper functioning and maintenance of the place of worship, only a meager allowance remained, as stated in his history by Canon Giuseppe Quatrini (sic).
Even today, there exists a Confraternity of Mount Carmel that takes care of the maintenance of the oratory and the organization of celebrations.

It is not clear if this is to be understood as patronage.
The Rangoni family stands at the origin of this foundation, first donating the land for the oratory and then the land for the construction of the current church. As a testament to their deep devotion, it is remembered that Marquis Guido expressed in his will the desire that his heart, enclosed in a lead box, be deposited in the family tomb, inside the church. The transport took place on June 16, 1693.
