A wooden plaque, affixed to the devotional window, bears the date of 1590, a tangible testament to its ancient origins.

The Pietà: A Symbol of Hope During War

A particularly significant element within the sanctuary is the statue of the Pietà. Its history is closely tied to the events of World War II. During that dramatic period, the mothers of Entracque came together to purchase the statue, praying to the Virgin Mary for the salvation and return of their sons on the front lines. In 1717, coinciding with the commissioning of the Deposition icon and the statues of Saints Peter and Paul, the turned walnut columns were created. In 1820, the church was raised and expanded, with the construction of the current sacristy, the wooden choir, and the marble balustrade from Valdieri. In 1863, the current bells were installed. Between 1873 and 1877, the bell tower was restored, and the current altar and confessionals were created. In 1909, the gallery was built, and in 1919, the harmonium was purchased. Major restorations were carried out in 1962 and 1964. Finally, in 1985, the slate roof covering was replaced with Bergamo stone at the expense of the municipality, and the interior and exterior of the building were cleaned and restored.
