  • Our Lady of Mount Carmel

Chapel: A building with a façade featuring a three-arched portico with Corinthian capitals.
In 1926, the chapel was dismantled and identically rebuilt in the center of the village on land donated by a certain Carlo Salvatori.
In 1960, the building underwent restoration.
(The relocation did not alter the architectural typology, as the structure was moved by numbering each individual piece.)

Description: A 16th-century image of the Madonna and Child. The venerated image is a reproduction preserved in a 1697 altarpiece. The original painting is kept in Carpi.
In use between the year – and 1697.
    Image: Painting
    Collection of ex-votos: No

The attestation is carved on the entrance pediment. The sanctuary originated from the cemetery chapel. The dedication to the Madonna del Carmine stems from the fact that the altarpiece and the image of the Madonna del Carmine, originally kept in the parish church, were transferred to the oratory, while the name Madonna della Croce (Madonna of the Cross) derives from a wooden cross several meters tall, erected at an unspecified time in the original church square and visible until 1927.

In 1926, the chapel was dismantled and identically rebuilt in the center of the village on land donated by a certain Carlo Salvatori (the building was moved piece by piece thanks to the numbering of each component). The decision was driven by the need for urban development in the area, which would have inevitably led to the demolition of the building. The initiative, carried out with the approval of the Superintendency of Fine Arts, received substantial financial support from the local population.

The date given for the establishment of the first parish corresponds to the oldest document preserved there. This small temple benefited from income derived from properties outside the village, including a plot of land in the municipality of S. Andrea Pelago and others in the municipalities of Rocca Pelago, Sassuolo, and Montecreto.
