The rebirth of the Sanctuary occurred in 1921, thanks to the commitment of local craftsmen who worked for its reconstruction. After only five months of work, on August 11 of the same year, the small temple was reopened for worship, an event welcomed with great joy and gratitude by the population. Unfortunately, over time, many of the ancient traditions linked to the Sanctuary have been lost, making the memory of this sacred place even more precious.

San Bernardino da Siena: A Spiritual Bond

The Sanctuary of Santa Maria Cracàxia is closely linked to the parish of San Bernardino da Siena in Mogoro. This bond underscores the importance of the figure of San Bernardino, a great preacher and reformer of the 15th century, venerated for his devotion to the Madonna and his commitment to spreading the Gospel. San Bernardino, born in Massa Marittima in 1380 and died in L’Aquila in 1444, is an example of holiness and love for the Church, and his spirit continues to inspire the faithful who visit the Sanctuary.
